Avie Director, Nick North, entered the MBNA Chester 2017 Marathon which took place on Sunday 8 October 2017 – all for a good cause, The Leukaemia and Lymphoma Society.
Early last year, Nick’s grandnephew, Lewis, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and due to some recent complication’s Lewis is going through, his mum was unable to run the marathon.
Nick didn’t need to be asked twice. He stepped in and after only a few months of training, ran all 26.2 miles in an amazing 3 hours, 59 minutes and 27 seconds!
Lewis has been part of a clinical trial and in an intensive Chemotherapy regime. He will have another 3 years of maintenance after his first year of intensive Chemotherapy finishes. The money raised will go towards helping people like Lewis get through their treatment.
Nick wanted to raise around £3,000 but the final total is nearer £9,000! Well done Nick!
